Home for Christmas
When my wife and I moved to Vegas for her to attend grad school, we thought we’d be here just long enough for her to get her degree. Then something unexpected happened. We fell in love with the city and Vegas became home. We’re sad that we won’t be able to travel to see family for the holidays this year, but at least we’ll be home for Christmas.

Prickly Pear & Cinnamon
I wanted this cocktail to capture the feeling of being at home in the Midwest for Christmas and the beauty of the Vegas desert.
We started with the stunning desert cactus pears, then layered in my favorite flavors and smells of Christmas with baking spices and citrus.
Next, in true Vegas fashion, we took things up a notch by elevating something familiar and simple, the salt, to make this drink a unique experience.
The citrus and five-spice salt foam slowly melts into the cocktail providing a silky smooth experience while highlighting the lime & spices in the cocktail and bringing balance to the sweetness.
The crème brûlée pear chip and the freshly grated cinnamon bring home the flavors and smells of Christmas while drawing your senses back to the cactus pear and the beauty of the desert.

This cocktail was dreamed up by Alexander Newby of Thrivent Financial & Dress the Drink.
